I THINK it's cash left+ sell value of towers.

I think lightstriker gives some information that can be argued on.

Again, that's possibly debatable, (as your version is what I used to get my high score on two way)
it's really a trade off between getting an early money boost (as the money should end up becoming insignificant, or nearly so, by round... 7-9ish) or having a couple more seconds of late game income, as well as not losing some money on sell-offs.
